Ryan Stutzman has been a sound designer, recording engineer, music educator, and commercial trumpet/electronics performer for over a decade. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master of Science degree in Music Technology from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. In addition to his public positions Ryan is a member of the Denver Pops Orchestra. His past positions include: Educator of the Legacy High School Bands, Member of the Colorado Brass and Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, Associate Professor of Music Theory at IUPUI, Visual Caption Head of the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps, and a member of the Blue Knights and Phantom Regiment and Phantom Regiment Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps.
Currently, Ryan is eight years into a career programming automation for electrical and mechanical systems from coast to coast for commercial and governmental: industrial, biomedical, data center, critical infrastructure, and manufacturing applications. In addition, he provides consulting for sound design, audio engineering/recording, film scoring, composing new music and develops interactive and responsive creative programming. He is also proud to be the Web Master and Technologist for DVP Music Studios.
His recognitions include: the Emmy for Best Arts Feature (2017), the John Philip Sousa Band Award, a full-tuition scholarship to IUPUI, numerous 5A and 2A Colorado State Band Championships. He is a five-time Drum Corps International World Class Finalist as a performer. He is a two-time Drum Corps International Open Class Finalist and World Class Semi-Finalist as an educator. Ryan has been recognized by the Commissioner of Education for his Dedication to Creative Education by the Colorado Department of Education. In 2015 he published his thesis: The Sonification of Digital Image Pixel Data.
